1980's General Electric (GE) Portable Mini Boombox

The GE 3-5282B came from the age of the portable radio—small enough to move from room to room, but still defined by physical controls, a speaker grille and the ritual of turning a dial until a station came through clearly.

Its compact case once kept the interesting parts out of sight. Opened up, the radio becomes a collection of components with their own shapes and textures: speaker, tuner, circuit board, controls and wiring. The technology that once disappeared into the background becomes the reason to look closer.
