1940's Admiral AM Radio
Originally: Admiral Radio

Before television became the center of the American living room, radio already had the job. News, baseball, music, comedy and drama all arrived through sets like this 1940s Admiral, when turning a dial was how you went looking for the rest of the world.
Electronics from this era were anything but disposable. Large components, substantial wiring and straightforward mechanical construction filled the cabinet. Exposed here, that hardware shows just how much physical machinery once stood behind the simple act of turning on the radio.
