Califone Portable Cassette Player
Originally: Califone Cassette Player
$295.00
Califone equipment was made with practicality in mind: straightforward controls, sturdy construction and audio equipment intended to be used rather than admired. This portable cassette player carries that utilitarian character, with the tape mechanism and controls doing exactly what they needed to do without pretending to be something else.
Once the machine is opened up, that functional design becomes its visual strength. The cassette transport, switches, circuitry and wiring show the layers required to pull a narrow strip of magnetic tape through the machine and turn it into sound.
