Portable CD/MP3 Player
Originally: CD/MP3 Portable Player
$145.00
Portable CD players occupied a peculiar moment in music history. They offered the clarity and convenience of digital audio, but listening still meant carrying a physical disc—and trying not to jostle the player hard enough to make the music skip.
Inside the compact shell, a laser had to follow a spinning disc while a motor, optical assembly and electronics worked together to turn microscopic information into music. Those components are normally invisible. Here, the technology behind the familiar round player gets to become the subject.
