1976 ATT Rotary Dial Telephone
$345.00
In December 1976, a telephone wasn't something you carried—it was part of the room. The AT&T 500DM represents the classic rotary desk phone at its most recognizable: substantial handset, circular dial and a design built around the simple expectation that a telephone might remain in the same place for decades.
Beneath that familiar shell was a surprisingly physical machine. Springs, contacts, wiring and the rotary mechanism translated the movement of a finger into the pulses used to place a call. Exposing those elements turns an everyday household object into a closer look at the engineering behind an experience that once seemed completely ordinary.
