Turntable

A turntable makes the act of playing music visible. The record spins, the tonearm moves slowly toward the center, and a tiny stylus follows a groove that physically contains the recording. Even before a note is heard, there is something satisfying about watching the process happen.
That mechanical relationship between object and sound gives the turntable an enduring appeal. Platter, tonearm, controls and internal hardware all have a clear purpose, yet taken out of their conventional arrangement they become an almost architectural collection of circles, lines and moving parts.
